Since my May 2018 post about Amazon Prime Video shows I wanted to watch, I have watched all of The Expanse (loved it, and began reading the novels) and I’ve recently completed the first season of Vikings.
In this embarrassment of riches, this virtual cornucopia of entertainment options offered to us in the 21st Century, the wish list continues to grow. Here are a few more Amazon offerings I plan to watch. Someday.
Defiance: Seasons 1 – 3
I know little about this SyFy series, cancelled after three seasons, except that it’s science-fiction, that there was a huge push with a video game the same time it premiered, and that it features the actors Julie Benz and Graham Greene. Since it’s only three seasons long, watching it doesn’t seem too daunting. Just because it was cancelled by SyFy doesn’t mean it’s bad. They did the same with The Expanse.
The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel: Seasons 1 – 2
Yes, I know this one is now an Emmy-winning show, and is on-going. But, I plan to watch it for one reason only: Amy Sherman-Palladino. Okay, make that two reasons, because I’m including her husband, Daniel Palladino, as well. The Sherman-Palladinos were the creative forces behind Gilmore Girls, which I loved. Of course, Gilmore Girls was heavy on the pop culture references and rock music. I’m not sure how that’s going to translate to a late-1950s period piece, but I’m looking forward to it.
Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan: Season 1
I don’t consider myself to have been Tom Clancy’s #1 fan, but I read two or three of his books when he was alive and writing them himself. I have been a John Krasinski fan since his days on The Office and am willing to take a flyer on this one.
Babylon 5: Seasons 1 – 5
I’m not sure whether this one’s for me or not, but I really can’t call myself a science-fiction fan if I continue to avoid it simply because it isn’t Trek.
Kung Fu: Seasons 1 – 3
This is the David Carradine original. I remember loving these shows when they first aired. My friend the Blimprider has been writing about it and has inspired me to watch it again with older eyes.
I’m certain there are others I want to watch as well, including Season 4 of The Expanse, when it airs exclusively on Amazon. These are the ones calling out to me this morning.
So much content, so little time . . .
